This album: Music for Uncertain Times, is dedicated to those whose lives and circumstances are more uncertain than others; and it is also dedicated to those whose lives are helpful in and devoted to improving the quality of life and health of others.

Overall, this album strives to augment a natural quality of music in providing relief. With its varied songs, the music of this album was chosen to encourage peace, solace, bolstering of body and spirit, and even joy during COVID-19 in 2020. Having provided piano music in different settings and for many occasions, I have missed public sharing of music during COVID-19. With this recording, I have welcomed this opportunity for sharing music, especially with those suffering uncertainty and challenge during recent times.

A friend of mine from church has had the good sense to recommend that I not limit the title of the album or its scope in associating it only with the current pandemic. The playlist for the album draws mostly from beloved repertoire – even from hundreds of years ago – that I would have played and have actually been asked to play at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Tufts Medical Center. I have volunteered my services as pianist at both hospitals for a while now; and I hope to return to playing the piano in the atria of both hospitals at the appropriate time.

Performed by Erik Gustafson, piano
Recorded, mixed, and mastered by Eric Kilburn at Wellspring Sound
