Originally entitled in French: “Jeu des mains,” this music now carries its present title in English. Even with slight suggestion, the music contains no reference to the power struggles of the popular contemporary TV series: Game of Thrones. Instead, the music presents an amiable conversation of melodic exchanges between the left and right hands. During the middle section of the piece, the crossing of the performer’s hands may strike a live audience member as funny. While the appearance of the crossed hands in performance may cause an awkward and even tense feeling, the actual music strives to be sincere and lyrical.
